Nunavut99

This Web site has excellent articles in the "Nunavut99" section. They are a bit long for grade 4 students, so teachers need to provide direction about which sections for students to focus on and which topics to research. The articles are written in quite an accessible style for Grade 5 and 6 students and do expand on the topics introduced in the History section of InfoCanada Nunavut . "What's In A Name" is particularly good at providing a personal voice to growing up as an Inuit in the 1950s and 1960s in the Canadian north. This article would be a good starting point for a discussion of the impact of the Canadian government and development on the peoples of the arctic.

National Library of Canada: Passageways

This is an excellent well written and well organized website dealing with the early exploration of Canada. There are lots of maps and charts as well as detailed information about explorers.
