The BC Archives Time Machine Web site gives you an opportunity to learn about the events and people of British Columbia's past by looking at photographs and reading brief paragraphs. In the activity below, you'll use this Web site to find out all about railway transportation in BC.

1. Visit the BC Archives Time Machine.   2. Click "Economy and Technology" on the menu on the left hand side of the     page. 3. Links to the history of four BC railroads are provided in the menu on the left-     hand side of the page. Construct a timeline that will summarize the main     events in BC railway history. Choose two dates from each of the four Web     pages you review. Click here to download an organizer on which to     organize your information. 4. Exchange your timeline with another student. Did you select similar dates?     Discuss with each other your reasons for choosing the dates you did.
