**Lesson 12: Making Change**

**Goal**

Count change for a given purchase.

**Instructions for Use**

**Making Change** allows students to practice counting back change for a given purchase.

To use Making Change, read the instructions on the first screen and click on “Begin” when you are ready. Read the question in the bottom half of the screen and type in the correct change due to the customer. Click “Check” to check your answer. Then select the fewest number of bills and coins to give as change to the customer but dragging the money from the top half of the screen. When you have all the change covered, click on “Check” to check your answer. Click on “Next” for another problem.

**Math at the Mall** allows students to solve money problems involving addition and subtraction.

To use Math at the Mall, click on the “How to” button on the first screen. Read the instructions and click on the “close” button at the top of the screen. Click on the “Start” button to start playing the game. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate through the mall. Use your math skills with adding and subtracting fractions to purchase items at the mall and collect four gold coins to complete the game.

**Count the Change** allows students to solve money problems involving addition and subtraction.

To use Count the Change, read the instructions on the first screen and click on the ‘Start” button. Practice mental math skills with this money counting game. You're given a target amount and the number of coins you already have. You must determine how many more coins of a certain type are needed to reach the target. The game uses US currency so be careful.
