Lesson 6: Making Bar Graphs

Make and interpret bar graphs.

Instructions for Use

Bugs in the System has you organize data into a bar graph by clearing different rooms of bugs. Then you answer questions about the data by comparing bar graphs. Note that you may need help with understanding the different scales of the graphs.

Click “Instructions” to read how to play the game, then click “Play.” Click on each floating bug and drag it into the column with the same colour beneath it. When all the bugs have been caught, click “OK” to go to the next room. After cleaning 3 rooms of bugs, read the question below the graphs and click the room number at the right side of the screen to answer the question.

Bar Graph Sorter asks you to organize data into a bar graph by dragging shapes into the correct columns.

Click and drag the coloured shapes above the graph into the correct rows below to create a bar graph. You may change the bar graph to sort by colour instead of shape, and to make the bar graph vertical instead of horizontal. When your bar graph is complete, click “New Set” to create a bar graph for another set of data.
