Lesson 1 - Exploring Number Patterns

 

Use the following interactive games and activities to encourage your child to have fun on the Web while exploring number patterns.

Instructions for Use

Pascal's Triangle prompts your child to identify and describe number patterns.

To use Pascal's Triangle, click the "Roll New Value" button to randomly choose a number between 2 and 10. Select the numbers in the triangle that are evenly divisible by the number. Continue to select numbers in the triangle as directed by the written prompts, until all patterns are found. Click the "Roll New Value" button to identify new patterns.

To make the triangle larger and more challenging, click the "Increase Depth" button. To make the triangle smaller, click the "Decrease Depth" button to reduce the numbers of rows in the triangle.

Number Patterns in Pascal's Triangle lets your child discover the many patterns in Pascal's triangle.

To use Number Patterns in Pascal's Triangle, click on any of the links on the Web page and read about the number patterns.

 

Nim lets your child identify number patterns in a game.

To use Nim, click the "Start" button. Use the buttons on the floating menu to remove matches in any of the rows. The person who leaves the last match in a row is the winner.
