Instructions for Use

Train Race allows your child to calculate the mean, median, and range of a set of data.

To use Train Race, click on the level of difficulty and then click the "Start" button. Click on the trains to see the length of their last five trips. Input all the required data into the table, and then press the "Go" button to see the score.

Measures allows your child to find the mean, median, and mode of a set of data.

To use Measures, input your data in the three text boxes, and click the "Proceed" button. Click on the "mean", "median", and "mode" boxes, and then click the "Proceed" button. Move the sliders in each category to determine the mean, median, and mode.

Input different numbers for data and the range and try the process again.

Mean and Median lets your child change the data values on the interactive program to immediately affect the mean and median of the new data set.

To use Mean and Median, click on a point and drag it left or right. The mean and median are updated automatically.
