Lesson 3 - Interpreting Circle Graphs

 

Use these interactive activities to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about interpreting circle graphs. Students can try these activities on their own or in pairs.

Instructions for Use

Circle Graph lets students interpret the data displayed on the circle graph or enter their own data.

To use Circle Graph, choose a data set from the drop-down menu above "Select a data set." To enter your own data, choose "My Data" from the drop-down menu. Enter a title in the text box below "Describe your Data". Enter your data in the text box below "Enter the Data". Enter the numeric value first followed by a comma, and then the description or category. Click the "Update Chart" button to show the results. To clear all the data, click the "Clear Data" button.

 

Making a Circle Graph is an interactive activity that lets students input data and display the data in a circle graph.

To use Making a Circle Graph, click the "data" button and then select a data set, such as Olympic gold medals or eye colour. Click the button with the circle graph on it to create a circle graph using the data. Determine what fraction represents each part of the circle graph.

To enter your own data, click the "reset" button. Enter your title above the circle graph and then enter what each colour in your circle graph should represent and the value of each colour.
