Instructions for Use
Measuring Scales is an interactive activity that lets your child estimate and measure the mass of objects by adding or subtracting weights from a scale.
To use Measuring Scales, set the red marker to a target weight on the scale. Show a digital display by clicking on the black dot at the button of the scale. To change the value of the scale, click the maximum buttons up or down. To change the markers shown on the scale, click the interval buttons up or down. To add weight to the scale pan, click the '+' button beside each weight. To subtract weight to the scale pan, click the '-' button beside each weight. Click the 'Reset' button to start again.
Mass helps your child practice measuring mass.
Click on the 'New Problem' button. Input the mass needed in the text box to balance the scale. Press 'Enter' on the keyboard. Click on the 'New Problem' button for the new example.
Animal Weigh In lets your child estimate and measure masses of animals using metric and non-metric systems of weight.
To use Animal Weigh In, click on the level of difficulty and then the 'Start' button. Drag the weighs on the scale to match the weight of the animal. Click the 'Balance' button to check the answers. The exercise converts between metric and non-metric systems of weight.
