To encourage your child to have fun on the Web while learning about Calculating the Mean, here are some games and interactive activities they can do on their own or in pairs.

Instructions for Use

Mean lets your child practice finding the mean in a set of numbers.

To use Mean, have your child read and follow the step-by-step questions. Click on the "Let's Practice!" link at the bottom of the Web page to practice adding and dividing to find an average.

 

Practice Finding the Mean gives your child practice finding the mean in a set of numbers.

To use Practice Finding the Mean, have your child answer the questions from the pull-down menus.

 

The Great Balancing Act gives your child many examples to use division to calculate the mean.

To use The Great Balancing Act, click on the arrow at the lower right of the screen, which indicates there are 11 screens in total. Move the arrow to balance the object and find the mean. Continue to follow the written directions to calculate the mean.
