Lesson 4 - Time on a Digital Clock

 

To encourage your child to have fun on the Web while learning about Time on a Digital Clock, here are some games and interactive activities they can do on their own or in pairs.

 

Goals

Read digital clocks.

Tell and write time to the quarter-hour.

 

Instructions for Use

 

What Time is it? prompts your child to practice their understanding of telling time.

To use What Time is It?, set the clock's minutes and hours by clicking forward and backward on the buttons at the bottom of the screen. To check the digital time, click the button with two arrows. To check what time it is now, click the 'Now' button. Make up your own problems about length of time in minutes. Give your problem to a partner to solve.

 

Time for Time lets your child practice estimating and measuring the passage of time using minutes, and hours.

To use Time for Time, click on the 'show digital' button. Click the '+' button to add 1, 15, 30 minutes, or 1 hour to the clocks. Click the '-' button to subtract 1, 15, 30 minutes, or 1 hour to the clocks. Click the 'Current time' button to show the present time. As your child clicks on the hour button, have them watch the sun move over time.
