What is Vendor Managed Inventory?

Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) is a supply chain solution whereby the Campus Bookstore provides Nelson with access to their inventory and point of sale data (POS). This data allows Nelson’s trained team of Category Analysts to take on full responsibility for analyzing inventory and sales data for the textbook category for University and College Campus stores. Using this data, Nelson will ship the required inventory to the store on consignment. Nelson will manage the inventory not only for Nelson products, but for other publishers as well.
