Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park – Chilkoot Trail

Chilkoot Trail: Historical Train Service

An article describing the historical train service at the beginning of the trail (see figure 5.3.5). Can be downloaded as a .pdf file.

Child Labour Web Links - Global March Against Child Labour

A site dedicated to the eradication of child labour. Links to various organizations whose purpose is to end child labour. Gives an overview of the areas of the world where child labour is still practised.

Canadian Illustrated News, 1869 to1883, National Library of Canada

A description of the Canadian Illustrated News, a popular 19th century magazine (see figure 5.3.7). Links to a biography of the editor, Georges Desbarats, images from the magazine, as well as primary articles on issues such as the Red River Rebellion. View images and photographs from the magazine using a search function that allows searching by title, artist, date, or subject (e.g., 'train wrecks'). Each image can be printed.
