Multimedia Physics Studios Page (432, #11 ) The Glenbrook School District of Illinois has created this web page called The Multimedia Physics Studios. It consists of a collection of GIF animations and accompanying explanations of major physics concepts. There are some interactive activities such as drawing free body diagrams and interpreting graphs. In addition, other animations are in development. Thomas Charles Edison Fund Page (432, #12 ) An Edison Science Education Booklet on Static Electricity put together by the Thomas Charles Edison fund. This page is a comprehensive list of all of the information found on this site. Chapter 9 contains the relevant information about Static Electricity. Adobe Acrobat Reader is required if you wish to download this booklet.
The Electrostatic Discharge Association is an organization focussing on advancing knowledge about electrostatic discharge and methods to avoid it. Their Electrostatic Discharge Primer describes the physics involved in generating an electrostatic charge. Newton BBS Page (432, #11 ) The Newton BBS is part of the US Department of Energy. Its Ask a Scientist service and archives have answers to just about every question in the sciences. Click on the Search option then search for "Dryer static" to get an explanation on how anti-static sheets work. Xerography Page (432, #12 ) From the Archives of Useless Information a site produced by Steve Silverman, a brief explanation of xerography. The site is written in fun, easy to read language. How Photocopiers Work Page (432, #12 ) From How Stuff Works, an excellent page explaining how a photocopier works. It includes animations that highlight the steps and sections on the different parts of the photocopier with a summary at the end.
Medicinal EMFs, Science News Online Page (436, #10 ) From Science News an article highlighting the use of electric and magnetic fields for healing and health. The article describes the use of EMF's in osteoporosis, joint disease, muscle pain and other medicinal uses. The extensive list of references allow for more detailed research if necessary.
The EMF Safety SuperStore has produced this online Questions and Answers page about Electric and Magnetic Fields. Included are sections on general information, human health and biological studies etc Ichor Medical Systems Page (436, #10 ) Ichor Medical Systems describes the use of electric fields in Electroporation Therapy (EPT). The technique is used to induce a temporary increase in the permeability of cell membranes, thus improving the intracellular delivery of a variety of drugs and genes. This may have applications in the treatment of a variety of different diseases including cancer, anemia, hemophilia ESD Journal - ESD Links Page (469, #26 ) From the Electrostatic Discharge Journal, a list of links on electrostatic discharge sites, including journals, institutes, general information, fun sites, new products and developments, among others.
From the University of Rochester, Professor Thomas B. Jones website of electrostatics demonstrations. The page outlines some practical applications of electrostatics in manufacturing and industry and includes a set of interactive pages used to supplement the demonstrations Uses for Static Electricity Page (469, #26 ) From the School for Champions online course, this page explains some useful applications of static electricity. It includes a mini-quiz at the end of the page. |
