This site is a joint venture between the University of Utah, and the Utah Museum of Natural History. The site contains a comprehensive group of topics that include teacher materials for the delivery of information on Genetics in general. It includes a basic chromosome matching activity that has to be printed and matched manually. Go to basic genetics then click on "Match Up Chromosomes Pairs" under Online and Hands-on Activities. The site itself is an excellent resource for students interested in genetics. It includes a tour of basic genetics that you can take by downloading the Flash plug-in, a section for teachers, a section for families, among other things. You can even build a DNA molecule. Requires a Flash Plug-in for some activities. Excellent site overall, very attractive and informative. A good resource for both teachers and students who want to know a little more about genetics.

Each are categorized by the disease. Karyotyping Activity Page (127, #29 ) Maintained by the University of Arizona, this site allows you to evaluate the case history of 3 patients, complete their karyotype and diagnose any missing or extra chromosomes. The activity uses simple click-through links that do not require any special plugins or utilities. Read the brief description of karyotyping and click through to the patient history section. Follow the instructions to complete the exercise.
This site is provided by the University of Washington. It contains several patient samples that you must align and group in oder to produce the karyotype. Detailed instructions assist in developing the karyotype. Requires Macromedia Shockwave to run the application.
