Starting a Sucessful Commerical Sponge Aquaculture Farm Page (416, #8 ) From BioFilter.com, this is a manual providing the reader with the basic information needed to start a successful commercial sponge aquaculture farm. It covers all the steps involved in harvesting sponges and processing them. Requires Acrobat Reader to view Recommendations for Establishing a Commercial Sponge Page (416, #8 ) The Kapiolani Community College Library has this publication on "Recommendations for Establishing a Commercial Sponge Industry Within the Region". Section I summarizes the accomplishments of the past two years and the knowledge gained from these accomplishments. This page provides a QuickTime video of the heartworm inside the heart as well as several reports on heartworm in various parts of Canada (Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader). Heartworm Disease Page (428, 38 ) From the American Veterinary Medical Association a page with links for general public information. There are some simple questions and answers for dog owners as well as advice to dog owners when travelling. Biological Control: Nematodes Page (421, #8 ) This Cornell University site deals with current uses of nematodes as biological insecticide. 11.4 Mollusks and Echinoderms The Zebra Mussel Page Page (433, EAI ) Dr. J. Ram of Wayne State University College of Science has produced this page with links to a summary of current research, developments and other information on the Zebra Mussel. Canadian Environmental Solutions Page (433, EAI ) From Industry Canada, the home page for the Canadian Environmental Solutions site. Type Zebra into the search box to get a list of documents related to the zebra mussel problem in Canada. 11.5 Anthropods Moving Beyond Burnt Church Page (442, #8 ) From the Fraser Institute, a discussion of the impact of the Lobster Fishery on the economies of the Atlantic Provinces. This site has a special focus on the event around Burnt Church New Brunswick. Background of the Lobster Fishery Page (442, #8 ) This Web Site is part of a project funded by The Pew Charitable Trusts through the Pew Fellows Program in Marine Conservation. It contains a comprehensive list of information on the Lobster Fishery including bioeconomics, conservation issues, hazards etc. The site also includes downloadable files and images. Great source of information. Chapter 11 Review Image Quest 3-D Page (445, #34 ) Image Quest 3-D. An excellent site with beautiful 2-D and 3-D images (it takes some practice to see the pictures in 3-D) there are many marine animal, coral reef and plankton images as well as a variety of images of terrestrial organisms. Clicking on the plankton page leads to images and articles on these organisms. Canada's Aquatic Environmnets Page (445, #34 ) From the University of Guelph, a site that focuses on aquatic environments. The site includes information about morphology, biodiversity, ecology, habitats and has links to further sites. Click on the Animal link to begin. Marine Invertebrates Page (445, #34 ) A page on marine invertebrates provided by Stem Net, an Educational Networking project for Newfoundland and Labrador. This page leads to a series of pages containing links to a host of information on the specific invertebrates you wish to research. Click on a category then follow the links to detailed information. Welcome to the Tarantulas Page (445, #36 ) Tarantulas Online is a very attractive site dedicated to tarantulas. It has general information, information on behaviour of tarantulas under the "Natural History, Science" section and there is a section on specific tarantula species.
