Creating a New Client File

In order to access the full search, score conversion, and interpretation capabilities of Profile, you must first create a new Client File or open an existing (previously saved) Client File.

To create a new Client File:

  1. Under the File menu, click New.
  2. In the Client Demographics dialog box that appears, type the required information in each field. Please note that the Last Name field must be completed at a minimum. Completion of the other fields is optional, however this data may be helpful when sorting and viewing Client File entries using the Library function. Do not include a period in the Last Name field. Use the Tab key to move to each successive field, and Shift + Tab to move back through the fields.
  3. After you have finished typing the information in each field, press Enter, or click the OK button.
  4. A message box will appear on the screen, reminding you to verify that the information in each field has been entered correctly. Click the OK button to continue, or click Cancel to return to the Client Demographics dialog to make changes as required.
  5. A Save As dialog box will then appear. In the File Name field, you will note that the file name defaults to the client's Last Name entry. You can choose to accept this file name, or type a new name for your Client File. Then click the Save button. Saving the Client File to disk will consume one licence file usage. Client demographic data cannot be changed after it has been saved.

Please see the Help section Profile 2004 Client File System for a description of other files automatically created by Profile during its operation.
