As the saying goes, "Things don't always go as planned." This applies to many things, including your aspirations and motivation. Sometimes forces beyond your control change the direction of your life and career development.

Geoff Eaton's life took a turn when he was diagnosed with leukemia. His motivation and career focus shifted and he became motivated to help other young people battling cancer, which led to the creation of his website, RealTime Cancer.

1. Visit the RealTime Cancer website and read more about Geoff's experiences, including articles he's written.
2. Go to the Profiles section of the site and select a few profiles to read.
3. Take note of how each person's life changed after a cancer diagnosis. How has each person's outlook changed? What motivates him or her now?
4. Select one profilee and present his or her story to the class, noting the life changes this person has undergone and how his or her goals have changed.
