Catholic Values CorrelationINTEGRATING FAITH IN THE CAREER STUDIES CLASSROOMThe Career Studies 10 course offers abundant opportunities for students to work toward the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations. Career planning is life planning—a process that involves self-examination, analysis and reflection, decision-making, goal-setting and planning, and the development and application of other life skills. Career Studies 10 is particularly well-suited to support the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations. Career Studies 10 defines career in the broadest sense, i.e., the sum total of life experiences, including paid work, unpaid work, community and volunteer work, leisure activities and family activities. Career planning is presented as a decision-making process that involves life-long learning, flexibility and openness. These fundamental principles support the I. C. E. principle that “?growth to full Christian maturity is a lifelong journey?that?will continue beyond graduation from secondary school.” Career Studies 10 includes thought-provoking reading and activities that enable students to consider, demonstrate and communicate the ways in which they can integrate Catholic values, attitudes and actions in their “career”—i.e., their life journey.
