Appendix: Study Skills

Managing Your Time

Complete, as honestly as you can, the Study Skills Checklist provided on the University of Virginia Web site. At the bottom of the page, you will find the categories that each of the items belongs to. If you have answered "yes" to two or more items in a category, be sure to consult the "Study Skills Self-Help Information" page and read the advice offered for that category.

Tests and Exams

For many aspects of school life, students need to assume personal responsibility for acquiring the habits, skills, and knowledge required to succeed. But there is help for those who are interested. Check out this excellent Study Guides and Strategies Web site from Virginia Polytechnic University. Without opening any of the links, choose six topics that you think you could personally benefit from. From these six topics, pick two to read carefully, and then set a specific timeline for reading the other four topics.
