Activity: Report on Admission Requirements for Canadian Law Schools
What do law schools look for in a student? How can a student who aspires
to be a lawyer prepare for the rigorous screening process at Canadian
law schools? How can a student become the ideal candidate? And what would
law school hold for that student?
Research Canadian law schools to answer these questions and report on
the results.
- With a partner, go to the Web site of Jurist
Canada and click on “Studying Law,” and then on “Canadian
Law Schools” to link to the law faculties of the following universities:
- University of Victoria—Click on “Admissions”
and then on “Admission to First Year.”
- University of Windsor—Click on “Admission Information.”
- University of New Brunswick—Click on “Admission Requirements,”
and then on “First Year” and then both “Entrance
Requirements” and “Categories for Admission.”
- Follow the links to find the following for each law school:
- admission requirements
- a description of the first-year law curriculum
- Prepare a joint report detailing the admission requirements and first-year
law programs of the three law schools. Identify similarities and differences
among the programs.
