Activity: Report on Admission Requirements for Canadian Law Schools

What do law schools look for in a student? How can a student who aspires to be a lawyer prepare for the rigorous screening process at Canadian law schools? How can a student become the ideal candidate? And what would law school hold for that student?

Research Canadian law schools to answer these questions and report on the results.

1. With a partner, go to the Web site of Jurist Canada and click on “Studying Law,” and then on “Canadian Law Schools” to link to the law faculties of the following universities:
   • University of Victoria—Click on “Admissions” and then on “Admission to First Year.”
   • University of Windsor—Click on “Admission Information.”
   • University of New Brunswick—Click on “Admission Requirements,” and then on “First Year” and then both “Entrance Requirements” and “Categories for Admission.”
     
     
2. Follow the links to find the following for each law school:
   • admission requirements
   • a description of the first-year law curriculum
     
3. Prepare a joint report detailing the admission requirements and first-year law programs of the three law schools. Identify similarities and differences among the programs.
