“A jury of your peers.” “Twelve men, good and true.” Both of these familiar expressions remind us of a cornerstone of the Canadian legal system: our right—if accused of a serious crime—to be judged by our equals in a court of law. How are these individuals selected for jury duty? What are their responsibilities after they have been selected?

1. The jury selection process is similar in all provinces and territories. Visit the Web site of the Ministry of the Attorney General for British Columbia to research the requirements for jury duty in that jurisdiction. 2. Visit the Web site of the Ministry of the Attorney General for Ontario and the Web site of Saskatchewan Justice and compare their requirements and selection process with that of British Columbia. Summarize the differences.
