Unit 2: Criminal LawCHAPTER 6: DRUG USE, DRINKING, AND DRIVINGE-ACTIVITY: DRUG AWARENESS PROGRAMS (p.163)Activity: Create a Bulletin-Board Display on a Drug Awareness ProgramAs part of their community-policing mandate, the RCMP runs several Drug Awareness Service Programs that have been developed in cooperation with provincial education and addiction services. By developing these programs, the RCMP is working toward making communities healthy and safe. In this activity you will make a bulletin-board display about a drug awareness program or program component (e.g., a publication) of your choice. 1. In preparation for researching a particular drug awareness program, visit the RCMP Drug Awareness Service. Quote their mission statement and summarize their belief statements. 2. Select one of the following programs and research how it promotes
drug awareness. Information on the programs can be found on the Web site
by clicking on Programs and then selecting the program of your choice.
Brochures can be downloaded.
3. Prepare a bulletin-board display about the drug awareness program
you reviewed in Question 2. Include the following.
Direct your display to the individual who would be interested in using the program and not necessarily the target audience (e.g., teachers of Grade 5 students, not the students). Your display should contain both written information and visuals that illustrate the activities of the program. Contact information should be included as well. 4. For an extended activity, visit the Health
Canada Website. Take The Steroids Quiz to determine your knowledge
about the use and effects of anabolic steroids. |
