Activity: Report on the work of the Canadian Human Rights Foundation
Human rights education is essential in the fight to prevent human rights
abuses. The introduction in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights recognizes
the importance of education in promoting respect for the rights and freedoms
identified in the document. The Canadian Human Rights Foundation (CHRF)
believes in this mandate.
Visit the Canadian
Human Rights Foundation Web site and write a short report on the
organization and programs offered.
Make sure you include the following information in your report:
- When did the CHRF begin?
- What is its mission statement?
- What is the document upon which the CHRF is founded?
- What is meant by “the goal of human rights education is empowerment”?
- What are the main programs offered by the CHRF? Briefly summarize
each.
