What are Saskatchewan's key industries? How many people work in each sector? This Government of Saskatchewan Web site includes facts and information on mining, forestry, agriculture, advanced technology, manufacturing, oil and gas.
Natural Resources Canada collects, compiles, and disseminates statistics describing Canadian natural resources in collaboration with its partners, Statistics Canada, and the provincial and territorial governments.

Students will be conducting an advanced search at this Web site. Step-by-step instructions are given, and students familiar with the use of computers will not require assistance; however, students who do not have frequent access to the Internet may need some guidance. Note that students will need access to a Canadian atlas or a road map of Saskatchewan in order to map the locations of several of the mines in the activity. If desired, extend this activity by having students repeat the step-by-step search using uranium , and include those locations on their map, as well, along with a separate symbol for uranium mines.
