Quebec's Emerging Energy Resources

This site is provided by the Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources. Students will be able to understand many of the brief articles on this site; however, they may have difficulty with the concept of "biomass energy." Direct the students to the three articles below the biomass section-on hydrogen power, wind power, and solar energy. This site is a good starting point for discussing the concepts of renewable and non-renewable resources.

Quebec's Growing Economy
This site is an official site of the Quebec government. While some of the economic information may be beyond your students, the site does contain a lot of useful information. The Investing in Montreal link is one section of the site that is fairly accessible and may give students some sense of what constitutes a region's economic advantage, i.e., its labour force (people), existing industries, location, cultural life, and so on. The activity for this site is also designed to introduce students to these ideas.
