This Web site has articles about the early history of Nunavut and Nunavut today. The articles are often long but they contain excellent information about the territory.

National Library of Canada: Passageways
This Web site was written especially for you! This National Library Web site has information about the early peoples of the arctic and the explorers like Amundsen, Davis, Frobisher, and Franklin who ventured across the territory searching for furs, gold, new lands, and a passageway to the Pacific Ocean.

1. Visit the Pathfinders & Passageways Web site.

2. From the menu at the top of the page, click on “Explorers’ Index”. Scroll

    down to find “John Franklin” and click on it.

3. Navigate through the pages about Franklin by clicking “next” at the bottom

    of each page.

4. Create a timeline of Franklin’s life. Begin your timeline with the date of

    Franklin’s birth, and end it with the date of his death. Include at least five

    other dates on your timeline.

5. What was your favourite “Mackenzie quote?” Why?

6. What do you think was the most interesting thing about Franklin’s life?
