New Brunswick Festivals

A comprehensive list of annual festivals in New Brunswick is provided on this page. Many of the listings provide a link to a Web site that provides more information about a specific festival. You may wish to have students practise sorting and classifying information by creating a selective list of festivals organized by themes, such as culture, seasonal celebrations, or music.

Koluskap and Sugarloaf Mountain

On this Web page, students can read the Mi'kmaq legend of how Sugarloaf Mountain was created. You may wish to have students act out the legend, or you could use the legend as a springboard for a discussion of the importance of legends in Aboriginal culture. Students could research other Aboriginal legends.
