Web Links

Department of Indian and Northern Affairs

If you want to learn about the Aboriginal peoples of the Great Lakes Lowland, this site is a good place to start. Go to the Kids' Stop. You'll find links to fact sheets, games, and other resources about Aboriginal peoples across Canada.

Sainte-Marie-among-the-Hurons

The Wendat (Huron) Nation lived in the area around Lake Huron. Disease and war wiped out the Wendat in the middle of the eighteenth century. However, their history is preserved at Sainte-Marie-among-the-Hurons near Georgian Bay. At the centre's Web site, you can find out what life was like for the once great and powerful Wendat Nation.
