Minerals are the most important economic resource in the Canadian Shield. At this Web site by the Ministry of Natural Resources, students can learn about different kinds of mines and participate in a simulation that allows them to find out why minerals and metals are important, what minerals and metals are in their homes, and how to start their own mine. Among the links the site provides is a section on mining careers.
