Instructions for Use

Base Ten Block Addition lets your child practice addition with and without regrouping.

To use Base Ten Block Addition, click the "Next Problem" button to complete an addition problem. Starting with the "1's" column and working your way over to the "1000's" column, look for blocks that can be grouped to form a larger base ten block unit. To group blocks to create a larger unit, click and hold down the mouse while dragging a rectangle to lasso the blocks. When you have selected the correct number of blocks, the blocks will join together to create the larger unit block. Drag the newly grouped unit into the column to the left. The addition solution will appear in the area on the left.

Adding Whole Numbers prompts your child to use paper and a pencil to add four-digit numbers.

To use Adding Whole Numbers, scroll down and click the "Start Addition" button. Using paper and a pencil, add the numbers, regrouping where necessary. Remember to place the number to be added below the first number so that the thousands, hundreds, tens, and ones places are aligned. Enter your answer in the text box and click the "check" button.
