Instructions for UseFlitting with Fractions lets students practice finding fractions that are part of a set or a group. To use Flitting with Fractions, read the question and determine which butterflies to put in the jar. Drag and drop the butterflies at the top of the jar and click the 'Close Lid' button. Have students calculate the denominator and numerator to describe the parts of the group they have caught. � Click the 'Enter' button and continue until all the questions are complete.
Fractions of Red Apples lets students practice finding fractions that are part of a set or a group. To use Fractions of Red Apples, click on applet 2. Click on the 'Go' button. Read the question and determine what fraction of the apples is red. Click on the button with the fraction that represents the red apples.
Fraction Model prompts students to manipulate fractions as part of a set or a group. To use Fraction Model, set the numerator slider higher than the denominator. Have students use the sliders to change the value of the fractions and observe the corresponding graphics. Use the pull-down menu to change the type of graphic to rectangle, circle or set model.
