Lesson 1 - Describing Shapes

To encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about Describing Congruent Shapes, here are some games and interactive activities they can do on their own or in pairs.

Instructions for Use

 

Traffic Signs and their Shapes prompts students to identify and describe shapes of traffic signs.

To use Traffic Signs and their Shapes, click on the name of the sign for each shape to reveal the traffic sign.

 

Name the Shape helps students identify 2-D shapes.

To use Name the Shape, click on a shape and drag it onto the workspace. Select a shape by clicking on it. Click on 'Name' from the menu bar, and click on a shape to find details about the shape. Once selected, the shape can be moved to any location on the workspace. Click on the other tools on the top panel to select and drag, rotate, find more information about the shape, or to clear the workspace. To remove a shape, drag it to the recycling bin.

 

Shape Cave helps students identify shapes.

To use Shape Cave, click on the cone first, and follow the parrot's instruction. Click on the shapes the parrot requests.
