Lesson 2 - Conducting a Survey

 

To encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about Conducting a Survey, here are some games and interactive activities they can do on their own or in pairs.

 

Goal

Create a question for a survey, and collect and organize data.

Instructions for Use

Data Picking prompts students to collect data and select a chart or graph the matches the data.

To use Data Picking, click on the level of difficulty and then the 'Start' button. Click on each student and tally the values in the table. Total the numbers. Select a chart or graph that most accurately reflects the data you have collected.

 

Collecting and Recording Data lets students know how to design and use tally charts and frequency tables to collect and record data.

To use Collecting and Recording Data, click the 'Next' button, and follow the instructions. Answer the interactive questions, click 'Try Test', and fill in the text fields. Click 'Mark It!' to see your score.

 

Survey Says prompts students to conduct a survey of what people want to be when they grow up, and make a graph to display the data.

To use Survey Says, type in the number of people who want to do the jobs listed. Click the 'Next' button. Create a bar graph of the data by dragging the bars to the correct location. Click the 'Check' button to check your answers.
