MAIL LISTS

Mail lists are essentially mass e-mail. A message sent out to the list is automatically distributed to all list subscribers. Useful information about resources and conferences are available on mail lists. Many mail lists encourage subscribers to post questions and discuss issues for all to read. The single most useful site for information on relevant political science mail lists is the "Political Science List of Lists"

Mail lists are generally managed by three software applications: Majordomo, Listproc, and Listserv. (You will know this when you are asked to subscribe to the list by sending e-mail to an address that starts with majordomo@xyz ... or listserv@xyz ...or listproc@xyz ...)

To find out what to do before you subscribe you can send the following one-word message instead:

  • help
To find out what the mail list covers, send the following message:
  • info list_name

To join a list run by Majordomo:

Leave the subject line blank
Your message should consist of one line.
