Bonnie Fox is associate professor of Sociology at the University of Toronto. She has been doing research on gender inequality since 1980 – focusing especially on women's position in the paid labour force and their unpaid work in the home. Her most recent research is on the transition to parenthood; it focuses on how gender differences and inequalities develop in families as couples negotiate the first year of parenting. She is writing a book on this topic and has just finished a second edition of her edited book on family and gender, Family Patterns, Gender Relations. She teaches courses on gender relations at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
