Law:

  • Access to Justice Network (ACJNet) provides Canadian law and justice resource materials. It includes text documents and links to related sites, which you can browse (under Browse ACJNet: A Quick Start) by subject and location (e.g., Young Offenders, Manitoba). It also has a listing of several law-related directories (Canadian law firms, law societies, crime prevention organizations, etc.). There’s also tons of legislative materials and much more.
  • Full text of the Criminal Code of Canada is available at this site.
  • Duhaime’s Canadian Criminal Law Centre. The webmaster of this site describes it as "Canada's one-stop shop for the best plain language articles on Canadian criminal law."
  • First Line: Criminal Law Information. This site offers well-organized information about the Canadian criminal legal process. It also includes links to criminal lawyer firms and law publishers, information on legal aid, useful links, and more.
  • A list of resources on Canadian law and government, by province
  • The Fair Justice Society advocates community and provincial reform to the legal Justice System in Canada regarding family violence, including homicide and provides support to victims of such crimes.
  • Canadian Human Rights Tribunal. The site includes details of all decisions and active cases since 1990.
  • The Nathanson Centre for the Study of Organized Crime and Corruption. The site features information about the centre, as well news releases, the Organized Crime and Corruption Bibliographic Database, links, and more.

  • National Crime Prevention Centre. This site provides details of the national strategy on crime prevention and of all initiatives and programs supported by NCPC (locally, provincially, nationally, and internationally).
  • International Centre for the Prevention of Crime. This site offers descriptions of existing crime prevention practices or models, an analysis of the successes and benefits of crime prevention, and much more.
  • Canadian Crime Prevention Centre. The site includes a listing of upcoming crime prevention conferences and brief crime prevention tips.

  • Department of the Solicitor General Canada. This site provides an overview of the justice and law enforcement systems in Canada and information about the department. It also includes current law- and crime-related information, such as news stories, press releases, speeches, and documents. Of special interest are quizzes and slide shows (under Public Education).
  • Department of Justice Canada. Contains information about the department, an overview of the Canadian justice system, news stories, and complete laws of Canada.
  • Law Commission of Canada. The purpose of this commission is "to study and keep under systematic review, in a manner that reflects the concepts and institutions of the common law and the civil law systems, the law of Canada and its effects, with a view to providing independent advice on improvements, modernization and reform that will ensure a just legal system that meets the changing needs of Canadian society and individuals in that society." The Web site offers discussion papers, reports, speeches, articles, and more.
  • Tabulated justice and crime statistics from Statistics Canada. This page includes detailed statistics on crime by type of offence and location, statistics on victims, suspects, and criminals, as well as justice-related spending, courts, and police. Most data provided is for years 1993 to 1997 inclusive.
