GREG NORDAL
President & CEO, Nelson Education Ltd.

Greg Nordal joined Nelson Education in September, 2008, as President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Nordal brings a wealth of experience to Nelson Education based on his prior leadership roles within the publishing industry, and through his responsibilities with other organizations at the Executive and Board levels.

Immediately prior to joining Nelson Education Mr. Nordal was President of Sodexo Canada, a leading provider of outsourced facilities and food management expertise, employing over 10,000 associates nationally. For many years previous to that experience, Mr. Nordal served as a senior executive for Dun & Bradstreet (D&B). His experience includes a progressive series of assignments with that corporation as President of D&B Canada, D&B Europe, and ultimately D&B International (based out of High Wycombe, United Kingdom). During his tenure with D&B Mr. Nordal provided leadership to that organization’s migration from print-based information products to web solutions that helped establish the company as the one of the globe’s premier providers of online business information solutions.

Over the years Mr. Nordal enjoyed a career path centered on sales, marketing and general management, including significant exposure to the publishing industry as a senior executive with CCH Canadian, specializing in Tax and Regulatory information products.

At the Board level, Mr. Nordal has previously served as a Director of MacDonald Dettwiler (TSX: MDA), and M.I. International (England). In the non-profit sector Mr. Nordal serves as a Director of Second Harvest, a Toronto based charitable enterprise dedicated to hunger relief for those in need. While with Sodexo, he served as Chair of the Sodexo Foundation, also involved in hunger relief intiatives across Canada.

In October 2009 Mr Nordal was the recipient of the Toronto Human Resources Professional Association "CEO Business Excellence Award" for the corporate sector.

Currently a resident of Toronto, Ontario, Mr. Nordal is a native of Winnipeg, Manitoba and a graduate from the University of Manitoba (B. Commerce, Honours).

 

MICHAEL ANDREWS
Chief Financial Officer

Michael Andrews is Nelson’s Chief Financial Officer and is accountable for overseeing Finance, Information Systems and Operations. Mr. Andrews is a Chartered Accountant and a seasoned finance executive with 26 years of professional experience whose successes span the Logistics, Energy, Consumer Packaged Goods and Consumer Electronic industries. Mr. Andrews’ experiences include providing leadership and strategic direction for Frito-Lay, Sunbeam, Borden Foods and Union Energy.

 

JAMES REEVE
Senior Vice President & Managing Director, Higher Education Division

James Reeve is the Senior Vice President of the Higher Education Division. Mr. Reeve has 20 years of experience in the publishing industry and was promoted to the position of Vice President in 2006. Prior to this, Mr. Reeve was the Associate Vice President of Sales for the Company's School Division. During his tenure in the Higher Education Division, Mr. Reeve has been instrumental in providing leadership to the Sales, Marketing and Editorial departments while building highly skilled and educated sales teams to foster the company's continued growth and profitability.

 

SUSAN CLINE
Senior Vice President, Media & Production Services

Susan Cline is the Senior Vice President of Media & Production Services. Ms. Cline is responsible for overseeing all production, manufacturing, and technology development pertaining to the product offerings of Nelson. Ms. Cline's background encompasses more than 25 years of experience in the education sector, media development and book production industries. Ms. Cline has a successful track record in Media and Production and has built a strong, highly skilled and creative team that has consistently met and exceeded all publishing deadlines.

 

MARLENE NYILASSY
Senior Vice President, People and Engagement

Marlene Nyilassy is the Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Chief Privacy Officer. Ms. Nyilassy has 20 years of experience in human resources and organizational development and joined Nelson in 1997. She is responsible for managing all human resources activities, developing policies and programs and executing the strategies that support best practices and align to the company’s business goals. Ms. Nyilassy has successfully led the integration and transition of employees and managers through the Company's acquisitions.

 

CHRIS BESSE
Senior Vice President & Managing Director, School Division

Chris Besse is the Senior Vice President of the School Division and responsible for leading the Sales, Marketing and Editorial functions. Prior to Mr. Besse's promotion to this position in 2008, he held the role of Vice President of Business Development for the School Division. Mr. Besse has provided leadership in developing and identifying new partnership and acquisition opportunities to enhance the growth of the core School business. Mr. Besse was instrumental in successfully launching Nelson's new US supplemental business unit, Nelson Education USA, in 2007. Mr. Besse brings over 17 years of experience in the publishing industry and has held several senior executive positions most recently as President and CEO of Gage Learning Corporation prior to joining Nelson in 2005.

 

JEAN BOUCHARD
General Manager, Groupe Modulo Inc. (Montreal)

Jean Bouchard joined Nelson Education, as General Manager of Montreal based Groupe Modulo Inc., in 2006.  In his 20 year career in the Educational  publishing business, Jean Bouchard has held different positions in sales, marketing, and new product development, as well as editorial development.  He also took part in many acquisition and post-acquisition integration processes.

Groupe Modulo Inc. publishes, sells and distributes French language educational resources to serve the needs of Canadian learners from kindergarten to university.  Modulo’s textbooks are also distributed in French language Europe.   Over the years, Modulo’s products were granted numerous awards for the quality of the French language and the rigour of the pedagogic content.  Groupe Modulo Inc. is a member of the Quebec publishers association (Association nationale des éditeurs de livres).

Involved in the publishers’ community, Jean Bouchard is Vice-President and member of the Board of Directors of Quebec publishers association (ANEL); has been appointed a member of Quebec’s Advisory Committee on Teaching Resource Evaluation by Quebec Minister of Education, Recreation and Sports; is a member of ANEL’s Digital Initiative Committee; and is a member of the board of Montreal’s Book Fair.

A native of Montreal, Jean Bouchard holds a bachelor’s degree in business from HEC-Montreal.
