Section A: Exploring 3-D Objects

Use these interactive activities to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about 3-D objects. Students can try these activities on their own or in pairs.

Goal

Build and describe 3-D objects. [CN, PS, V]

Instructions for Use

3-D Shapes allows students to use shape descriptions to identify 3-D shapes.

To start 3-D Shapes, scroll down to the links under the heading “3-D Shapes”, and then click on the grey ball next to “3-D Shapes”.

To use 3-D Shapes, click anywhere on the screen to go forward to the next sentence or slide. Have students figure out what shape the clues are referring to before they see the answer. (Note: The activity just ends after the “cuboid”.)

Buried Shapes allows students to identify 3-D shapes.

To start Buried Shapes, scroll down to the links under the heading “3-D Shapes”, and then click on the grey ball next to “Buried Shapes”.

To use Buried Shapes, click on the 3-D shape below that matches the one highlighted above in the picture. Mistakes are tracked above.
