## CHAPTER 10: Probability

**Lesson 3: Using a Formula to Calculate Probability **

Use these interactive activities to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about probability. Students can try these activities on their own or in pairs.

**Goal**

Develop and apply a rule to determine the probability of independent events.

**Builds Upon**

Student Book pages 428–433

**Instructions for Use**

**Adjustable Spinner** allows students to determine the probability of independent events, such as spinning a spinner.

Create your own spinner, by increasing or decreasing the number of sections, and clicking and dragging the dots on the spinner to vary the section sizes.

The activity will tell you the percentage of the spinner that is covered by each colour section. Use this information to help you the probability of spinner green on your first spin and spinning magenta on your second spin.
