Instructions for Use

Basketball Debate allows students to explore the meaning of average (or mean) and relate these concepts to real world experiences.

Read the problem and do the calculations to find out who is the better basketball player. Note that throughout this exercise mean is referred to as the “average”; however, in class we should always use the term “mean” as it is more precise (see Student Book p. 347)

Comparing Properties of the Mean and the Median allows students to use interactive software to compare properties of the mean and the median, and discover what affect changes in data have on the mean and the median.

Read the tasks and questions and then change the data, by moving the dots on the number line, to accomplish each task and answer each question.

Mean, Median, and Mode Calculator allows students to quickly calculate the mean, median, and mode for any set of data.

Enter numbers separated by comma and then click “calculate.”
