Instructions for Use

Shopping at Troy's Toys allows students to practice calculating both prices and discounts, using percent.

To use Shopping at Troy’s Toys, choose either Level 1 or Level 2. There are five problems in each level, and in both levels you select the toys which determine how challenging the activity will be.

In Level 1, choose the toys you want to buy. Click the “Check” button to get the first problem. You may want to click the “Learn How” button for instructions on how to calculate the answer. Then, find the sale price when given the original price and percent discount. Click the “Check” button again to check your answer. Click the “Next” button to get another problem.

In Level 2, choose the toys you want to buy. Click the “Check button to get the first problem. Then, find the percent discount when the original price and the sale price are known. Click the “Check button again to check your answer. Click the “Next” button to get another problem.

Estimating Tips allows students to practice estimating 15% tips.

To use Estimating Tips, read the instructions, and then scroll down to the “Practice” box. Click the “Start” button and solve the problem that appears. Type in your answer and click the “Check” button to check your answers. The activity will keep track of how many correct answers you give.
