Lesson 1: Exploring Adding and Subtracting Decimals

Goal

Add and subtract decimals using mental math.

Instructions for Use

Add and Subtract Decimals 

To use Add and Subtract Decimals, simply click on the link. At the end of each narrative, click on the “Next” button to continue to the next frame, or on the “Back” button to see the last frame again. To review the presentation from the beginning, click on the “Replay” button.

Sock 

To use Sock, read the goal at the bottom of the screen and decide which of the decimals will add to the total. You “add” the decimals by using the yellow ball to push the green blocks into the holes that the decimals represent. Move the yellow ball by clicking on the direction arrows at upper right. When all the blocks are pushed in holes the total will appear between the arrows. If it is correct, “Well Done!” shows  below. To play a new game, exit the link and click on it again.
