Lesson 1: Patterns in an Addition Table

Identify, describe, and complete patterns in an addition table.

Instructions for Use

Math Tables - Addition

To use Math Tables – Addition, read the instruction at the top of the screen, ignoring the information about negative numbers. In the table below, select the column and row starting numbers under “Numbers” and the number of columns and rows under “Width”. Leave “Function” set to “Addition” and “Random” to “OFF”. Click on the “Click here to start drill” button to open up your blank table to complete. Read the graphic directions below, then enter your answers in the table cell boxes and click on “Click here to submit answers”. Your score and time will appear at the top of the completed table. To try a new table, click on “Do Drill Again” and re-select column and row starting numbers and number of columns and rows. For a more challenging game, click the “ON” button under “Random”.

Addition Suprise

To use Addition Surprise, click and drag the number under the door on the left to any square on the grid whose row and column numbers add to that number.  If you are correct, the number will stay on that square as a bear with a balloon pops out of the door and the sum is shown below a “Continue” button. Click this button to reveal parts of the picture beneath all the grid squares whose rows and columns add to the number. The door on the left will shut and a new number will display. If you are wrong, the bear will look in the direction of your answer as “Try Again” is displayed. Click on the button and keep answering until you get it right. Continue playing until the picture is fully revealed, then click “Play Again” to start another round.
