# Play Day Lunch

## INTRODUCTION

Imagine a Play Day for 54 students. This is an event where each student will participate in a variety of activities, such as a beanbag toss and a relay race. All that playing and running around is going to make everybody very hungry!

You challenge is to work with a partner to organize lunch for one of the groups of students who will be attending the Play Day. You must organize the food and drinks and make sure you have enough servings of each item to feed everyone in your group. First you will determine the number of people in your group. Then, you will use the web to find the food and drink items that you want to serve. Make sure to calculate how much of each item you need. Finally, you will complete a menu chart to prove that your lunch plan will work, and that no one will go hungry!

## THE PROCESS

1. Determine the number of people in your group. Here is what you need to know:
• There are 54 students coming to the play day.
• There are 9 groups.
• Each group will have one teacher in it. Remember, teachers get hungry too!

Now, write down how many people are in your group. Remember, this is the number of people you have to feed!

2. Think about the food you might want to serve at the Play Day. Talk about it with your partner. Visit the following websites to get some ideas and then make your choices.

Make sure you figure out how much of each item you will need.
