Lesson 7: Decimal Tenths

Instructions for Use

Rope Tug allows your child to compare and order decimals.

To use Rope Tug, click on the “Start Game” button on the first screen. Select a difficulty level by clicking on the number and then choose whether you want to play against the computer or another player. On the next screen, select whether you are male or female by clicking in the circle next to each option. Type your name into the white box underneath and click on “continue”. This will take you to the game screen. Click on the desk of cards to start playing. Two cards will be dealt. You will only be able to see your own card. Choose whether you want to replace your card or hold it – if you think the decimal on your card is higher than your opponents, hold it. If not, replace it. You can only replace each card once before the cards are revealed.

Whoever has the smaller decimal will be pulled towards the pit. The amount of pull is related to the difference between the two decimals. If you have the larger decimal, type in the difference between the two cards and press “pull” to pull your opponent into the pit. Click on the deck of cards to play the next hand. Keep playing until one person has been pulled all the way into the pit!
