Instructions for Use

Counter Square provides a 100 chart for students to use to solve any addition problems.

Make counters in the top right of the screen by clicking on a coloured shape. Then click the shape in the box below the counters and drag it to the desired square on the 100 chart. You may want to use different-coloured counters to help you solve addition problems. Select “Click to remove all counters” to clear the screen and start over.

The 100 Square (SMART Notebook-Compatible) allows students to manipulate a 100 chart. You should set this activity up for students. You may want to adapt the SMART Notebook file to suit your class.

Use the 100 chart in different ways to help you solve addition problems. You may draw shapes around numbers, move them to other spots, and change colours of numbers.

Addition with Regrouping (SMART Notebook-Compatible) has students practise adding 2-digit numbers by regrouping. You should set this activity up for students. Pages 3 to 6 are most appropriate for this lesson. You may want to adapt the SMART Notebook file to suit your class.

Follow the directions on each page, showing the numbers in the place value charts using base ten blocks. Regroup by exchanging 10s for 1s where needed.
