Use these interactive activities to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about using a ruler. Students can try these activities on their own or in pairs.

Instructions for Use

Estimating Metric Length asks students to measure lines with a centimetre ruler. Note that some students may need support understanding what 1 dm means on the ruler.

Click “Measure” at the bottom right of the screen to start. Drag the ruler to measure the line above. Enter the number of centimetres you measure in the white “Length” box, then press “Enter.” Click “New Problem” to try another problem.

Measure It! has students measure lines using a centimetre ruler.

Read the ruler to find out how long the red line is, then click on the correct answer below. If you select an incorrect answer, click “Next Question” to continue.
