## CHAPTER 11: 2-D AND 3-D GEOMETRY

**Lesson 1: Sorting 2-D Shapes**

Use these interactive activities to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about sorting 2-D shapes. Students can try these activities on their own or in pairs.

**Goal**

Compare and sort 2-D shapes by number of sides.

**Instructions for Use**

Interactive Shape has students identify shapes.

Look at the shapes on the screen. Select the type of polygon the blue, yellow, and red shapes are in the table at the bottom of the screen.

Buzzing with Shapes allows two students to play against one another to identify 2-D shapes. Note that two players are required for this game.

Click the arrow at the right side of the screen to begin. Player 1 spins by clicking the spinner at the top of the screen. Drag the counter that appears to a shape with the same number of sides in the hive below. Click “Next” to continue to Player 2’s turn. Continue the process until one player makes a vertical or horizontal line across the hive.
