## CHAPTER 4: LINEAR MEASUREMENT

**Lesson 3: Measuring Height Using Different Units **

Use these interactive activities to encourage students to have fun on the Web while learning about linear measurement. Students can try these activities on their own or in pairs.

**Goal**

Estimate, measure, compare, and describe height using multiple copies of non-standard units.

Recognize that the measurement of a given dimension stays constant regardless of orientation.

**Instructions for Use**

**Measure the Teddy Bears:** This interactive game allows students to practice measuring height using non-standard units. There are 10 questions, each worth 10 points.

A teddy bear will stand up against a ruler. How many units tall is the teddy bear? Select the correct answer from the options given. If you are correct, the teddy bear will dance! In a follow up discussion, ask students if the measurement would have changed if the teddy bears lay down to be measured.
