Instructions for Use Mr. Pip's Fruit Balance allows students to compare the masses of different fruits using a virtual pan balance. Use this tool with the whole class and pose various questions. Have the students compare 2 fruits. Predict which fruit will have the greater mass. Then check by using the balance. You can click and drag various fruit into the two baskets (or pans) of the balance. Try to keep it balanced! Click “Manage Mass” to set the masses for the different fruits. Click “Sample Questions” for some questions about mass that you can answer using the balance.
